Whatsapp Channel Binding
Link your account now to access the advanced API features of Whatsapp Business with MessageGate innovations! The process is completed in a few minutes and you can immediately start exchanging messages via MessageGate. Moreover, with MessageGate Mobile, your messages are wherever you are!
There are some important things to consider before connecting your Whatsapp account. Please make sure the following information is correct before proceeding with the channel linking steps.
- If the phone number you will use for the Whatsapp channel has received API service from a service provider before, this number must be deleted via Facebook Business Manager. Click to learn how to do this.
- The phone number you will use for the Whatsapp channel must be open to incoming calls via SMS or +1 (USA). A 6-digit code will be sent to you via SMS or call when connecting your channel. If you do not enter the incoming code, a Whatsapp account cannot be created for that number.
- If you want to receive the verification code via call and there is an IVR connected to the phone number you want to create a Whatsapp account with, you should forward the calls received via +1 to a phone that you can reach during the channel linking process.
- If the phone number you will use for the Whatsapp channel is currently used in the Whatsapp or Whatsapp Business application, it is necessary to backup the conversations first and then delete the accounts there.
- Conversation history in Whatsapp or Whatsapp Business applications cannot be transferred to MessageGate due to Facebook Privacy Policies. If accessing conversation histories is important to your business model, you can try switching to MessageGate with a new number.
- Make sure you load a valid payment method via the MessageGate console screen. This process is not mandatory during channel binding. However, not adding a payment method may cause your messages to be restricted later on. Click for detailed information.
- Make sure that your Facebook Business Account to which the phone number you will use for the Whatsapp channel will be linked to is verified. Notifications sent from unverified accounts may be detected as spam by Facebook after a while and your messages may be restricted. If you don't know how to verify your account click this article.
The above information is important for you to avoid problems and losses while connecting your Whatsapp account. After taking the necessary precautions in line with this information, you can connect your channel in a few minutes by following the steps below.
